Jersey Lilies
Jersey Lilies are a mixed dancing side who keep the English tradition of Morris Dancing alive and well in Jersey!
ContactAbout
Formerly a female-only side, which became mixed in late 2024, they practice throughout the winter season on Wednesday evenings at Samares School from 20:00 - approx. 21:30. The start to the summer season is marked on 1st May where Jersey Lilies get together at 06:00, with the sun, in the most easterly parish; they then spend the day dancing in every single one of the 12 parishes in Jersey.
Jersey Lilies was founded in 1978 when a group of intrepid folk dancers decided to branch out and blossom into something new and beautiful. Drawing on influences from all over the UK (Morris dancing has many different regional styles and reasons for evolving) and now even as far afield as New Zealand, the aim of Jersey Lilies is to have fun with all the many possibilities that are available within this traditional dance form. They always welcome new recruits - both female and male - with self-confidence to join the dancers or the musicians. You will find that Jersey Lilies are a friendly group of people of all ages and professions who love to dance and perform.
During the summer, Jersey Lilies dance on Wednesday evenings around the island, and also at a multitude of events on- and off-Island.
Upcoming Events
Jersey Lilies first public outing of 2025 will be on May Day. This is their traditional 12 parish programme to welcome the arrival of spring, and will go ahead whatever the weather!
