The Jersey Lilies
The Jersey Lilies
The Jersey Lilies are an all-female side who are keeping the English tradition of Morris Dancing alive and well in Jersey!
ContactAbout
They practice throughout the winter season on Wednesday evenings at Samares School from 20:00 - approx. 21:30. The start to the summer season is marked on 1st May where The Jersey Lilies get together at 06:00, with the sun, in the most easterly parish; they then spend the day dancing in every single one of the 12 parishes in Jersey.
The Jersey Lilies was founded in 1978 when a group of intrepid folk dancers decided to branch out and blossom into something new and beautiful. Drawing on influences from all over the UK (Morris dancing has many different regional styles and reasons for evolving) and now even as far afield as New Zealand, the aim of The Jersey Lilies is to have fun with all the many possibilities that are available within this traditional dance form. They always welcome new recruits with self-confidence to join the dancers or the musicians. You will find that The Jersey Lilies are a friendly group of women of all ages and professions who love to dance and perform.
During the summer, The Jersey Lilies dance on Wednesday evenings around the island, and also at a multitude of events on- and off-Island.
