Jérôme Bel by Jérôme Bel
Jérôme Bel by Jérôme Bel
ArtHouse Jersey is thrilled to announce the English language premiere of “Jérôme Bel,” a new work by the influential French choreographer Jérôme Bel.
Since the 1990s, Bel’s playful, visceral, and conceptual dance pieces have significantly shaped contemporary dance in Europe. His recent works have focused on creating “portraits” of dancers across various dance forms, including classical ballet, modern dance, and collaborations with traditional dancers such as Pichet Klunchun from Thailand.
In this latest piece, Bel turns the lens on himself, offering a “danced portrait” of his own life and career in dance. Sharing his doubts, commitments, failures, and passions with wit and insight, this “auto-bio-choreo-graphic” work reveals the common structures of a life dedicated to dance. Originally performed in 2021, this piece will be brought to life over two nights in the intimate setting of Greve de Lecq Barracks. It is performed by and in collaboration with Terry O’Connor, a Jersey native and co-founder of the renowned experimental theatre group, Forced Entertainment.
Produced by ArtHouse Jersey, this performance is a must-see event for dance enthusiasts and those interested in contemporary performance art.
Timings: 19:30 - 21:30.
Please note: This event does not feature Jérôme Bel performing or appearing in person.
