The Jersey Jewels are excited to announce that they have moved into town!
For more than two decades, the Island's belly dance club has been based out west but they are pleased to have found a more central home in St. Helier in a large, modern mirrored studio.
Club Chairman Jane Delmer said: "We hope that our more accessible location will mean that we can share the joy of Middle Eastern dance with more people and so we are currently offering beginner-friendly drop-in classes for newbies to give it a try. If you have always wanted to learn to belly dance, now is the ideal time. It's a very inclusive form – this is a folkloric dance for every age and every body and it's also a powerful way to find more confidence and self-expression. Who doesn't love a good shimmy!"
“Another reason it's so enjoyable is that the music is beautiful and very varied. Studying Middle Eastern dance offers a window into different cultures, which is fascinating and makes this far more than just a fitness class.", she added.
Jersey Jewels Bellydance Club sessions last an hour, which includes technique and usually a long combination or short choreography to put those moves into action. They cover a range of different styles from across the belly dance world, including the use of props such as silk veil, finger cymbals, candle trays, fan veils, wings and occasionally even swords!
The club also has a new start time of 19:30, which fits in better with their new town venue.
