The Parish of St. Helier's popular Tea Dances have been a resounding success in 2024, bringing the local community together in celebration and movement from April through to November. Held in the elegant setting of St. Helier Town Hall, these monthly events have proven to be a highlight for many, offering an enjoyable afternoon of music, dance, and socialising.
Throughout 2024, attendees of all ages were invited to put on their dancing shoes and enjoy an afternoon of ballroom dancing. Led by the talented Sharon of Smooth Moves, the tea dances brought a joyous atmosphere to the Town Hall, with participants enjoying classic ballroom music to dance to, a friendly and welcoming environment, and the chance to make new friends. The Town Hall staff were also commended for their efforts in providing excellent service, serving delicious tea and cakes to all guests, making each event a truly memorable experience.
The good news is that the Parish of St. Helier's Tea Dances will continue into 2025, starting on Wednesday 29th January*. The dances will run on the last Wednesday of every month throughout the year (excluding December), offering even more opportunities for residents and visitors to come together and enjoy this cherished tradition. Whether you're a seasoned dancer or a first-timer, there's a spot for everyone at these inclusive and enjoyable social events.
Constable of St. Helier, Simon Crowcroft said: "The tea dances have become a staple in the Parish's monthly event calendar. It has been great to see the number of attendees steadily rise throughout the year and I hope to see the event's success continue for 2025. The tea dances are not only for those who enjoy dancing but also provide a space for the community to come together and enjoy the social side of the dances. We hope to see you at a dance next year."
Looking ahead to next year, the organisers are excited to welcome more dancers, new faces, and returning regulars. Mark your calendars for the last Wednesday of every month from January through to November, and prepare for another year of music, dancing, and fun.
*The dances will take place on the last Wednesday of each month from 14:30 to 16:30 in the Town Hall's Assembly Room. The dances are open to all and tickets for each dance will be available from Customer Services in the Town Hall on the first of the month.
